Resources: 10 Ways You Can Get Connected

  1. Get a Library Card

Cards are available for free to residents of Rutland Town, Rutland City, Tinmouth, Ira and Mendon, and to others for a fee. You can even apply for a card by mail. Click here to download a form you can fill out to get a library card [26K Word document].
  2. Use Your Library Card

Your card gets you access to our online catalog and collection of databases. Reserve or renew books, look up health and genealogy information or browse an encyclopedia, from your home.
  3. Spread the Word

If you are already a frequent library user, tell other people in the community about us. Write a letter to the editor, or bring a friend in.
  4. Volunteer

The library uses volunteer workers every day to help us repair books, run our programs, organize our shelves and more. Click here to download a form you can fill out to apply to become a volunteer [29K Word document].
  5. Come to an Event

There are always programs going on at the library: story time for kids, email classes for seniors, lectures for pet-owners. Check our calendar for details.
  6. Donate Books and Materials

We are happy to take most books that are in good condition, no encyclopedias or text books please. Donations are accepted any time the library is open and your donation is tax deductible.
  7. Come to a Booksale

The Friends of the Library run booksales three times a year to help raise money for library projects and facilities. Booksale money has paid for new curtains in the library and library programs. Drop in and see what they have to offer.
  8. Schedule a Tour or Visit

Our Outreach Librarian will happily come to your school or group meeting and give a presentation about the library's collection services tailored to your group's interests. We also do tours of the library.
  9. Come to a Trustees Meeting

The Rutland Free Library Board of Trustees meetings are open to the public and happen on the second Wednesday of every month from 5 - 6:30 pm.
  10. Join the Friends

The Friends of the Library help the library in many different ways. Their meetings are on the second Mondays of the month at 7 pm.
