Ward's Regt. in\nservice at Dorchester in the siege of Boston.\nThe records are fragmentary so\nwe do not get a continuous picture\nbut we\nnext find him, in Dec.\nof 1776 as\n*of Templeton\".\nIt is\nprobable he was living with his brother james\nwhett de\nthe second time.\nThis was\nIn Capt.\nenlisted\nDikes\" Regt.\nand his service was from 14 Dec. 1776 to\nHe next reenlisted Sept. 1,\nEbenezer Newell's\nuntil Jan.\nbut just\nin the Ist U.S.\nCon so any at tat time consiste o\nincluding heads of families; 3 females,\nincluding\nneads of families\nThese check with the children asl\nlisted later,\nLucy having been born after the census.\nHow long he stayed in Vermont is problematical. We do know\nfrom his\napplication\nfor a pension\nthat he had lived in\nChester,\nWindsor Co., and Rutland, Pittsford and Chittenden, Rutland To., Vt.\nThe aaxt trace found was when he was living in present day\nEarie Co.;\nNew York,\nthe outskirts of Buffalo.\nLiving in the present day town or North Collins,\nHe was in 1830\nIn\n1832 he was living in Clarence,\nat Ter\nThe doove census.\nWe know. that in 1832 josian,\ntas tears\nBuffalo and Eli was living in Lancaster.\nUnfortunately his Pension Claim was not allowed.\nThe foregoing\nbelieved to be\nBureau records but no mention is made in those\nrecords of the\nchildren back in Vermont.\nthe descendants in Vermont have n\nregard of what\nbecame of\nJosiah nor have they any traditions\nregarding those who went West\nThey simply have a tradition that\nthey are descendants of Josiah the son of John of Northborough.\nRef: Cartuth Family by H.B:\nCarruth pg 44-46\nService pg. 4y\nunilaren pgs\n8-59-60-61\nand\nDesc. of Wn and Annis Chandler, Vol. I pg 625 for Esther "}
