Benajah Guernsey b.\nApril 20, 1811\nNOTES\nRemoved with his father when eight years old to Rutland, Vt.\nHe joined the West Rutland church in 1785 in his 19th year; to taunton, lass. and studied davinity wate\nHe went immediately\nto Taunton, Mass.\nEphraim\nJudson and\nlicensed to preach as a Congregational\nminister in March 1790 by Bristol Association in Mass.\nHe\nstudied after this with Dr.\nStephen\nWest of Stockbridge,\nMass. and preached in destitute places not far distant from\ndesire to\ntroubled in his mind on the\naubject of baptism.\nAt length his views underwent a change\nand he was led to\nconnect himself with the Baptist denon-\nination.\nIn May 1792 he was baptized by Dr. Samuel Stillman\nin Boston and studied with him till September following when on the 4th of the month he was ordained in the ancient Baptist meeting house founded by Roger Williams in Providence\nR.I. as an evangelist.\nHe spent some years traveling il\nextensive missionary work in Savannah back to New England.\non 1704 he punt shed a book on bap\na book on baptism\nat Hartford, Conn.\nHe made his home in Manilton, N.Y. and preached for the Baptist church there most of the time for two years,\nduring\nwhich time there was a great revival and many were\nadded to\nthe church.\nIn April 1803 he removed to Pompey and in March\n1805 to Fabius, N.Y. here his family continued to reside till he removed March 1825 to Mendon, N.I.\nRef: \" Root, Genealogical Records 1600-1870\" by James Pierce Root, pg 64 "}
